INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE FROM ALERT CAROLINA: Identity of Person of Interest Sought in Break-in Investigation

UNC Police are seeking help in identifying a person of interest in their investigation into several recent break-ins reported via an Alert Carolina Timely Warning Message issued early Sunday morning (May 4).  The individual about whom police are seeking more information is pictured here:

 

Suspect in Break In

 

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Public Safety is investigating a reported Breaking and Entering that occurred at the at Carolina Inn on May 3, around 10:00 p.m. The suspect was described as an African-American male, 20-30 years old, wearing a UNC Baseball cap, Dark Blue Windbreaker, Blue Jeans and a White T-shirt. The suspect is believed to be carrying a white Carolina Inn laundry bag.  The subject is also suspected of trespassing at Craige Residence Hall in the evening hours of May 2. In that incident, the subject may have tail-gated behind a student to gain access to the residence hall where he entered the lobby and asked a student for a cab ride. The student went to seek assistance from an RA, prompting the suspect to leave the building.

 

Chapel Hill Police is asking anyone with information on the suspect to contact UNC Police Detective Matt Dodson at (919) 962-8176, call CrimeStoppers at 919-942-7515.  Calls to CrimeStoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2000.00 for information that leads to an arrest.  You can also leave tips for CrimeStoppers at www.crimestoppers-chcunc.org.
