INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE FROM ALERT CAROLINA: Robbery Reported near Campus

On Monday, Jan. 14 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Chapel Hill Police responded to the report of a strong-armed robbery of a UNC student near University Square on West Franklin Street. The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot in the direction of Granville Towers. Chapel Hill Officers arrived on scene within minutes and found that the victim and several passers-by had detained the suspect while waiting for police to arrive. Officers quickly took the suspect into custody.

The suspect, Nasir Keshawn Brown (17), was charged with one (1) felony count of Larceny from a Person and one (1) misdemeanor count of Possession of Stolen Property. He was held in the Orange County Jail under a secured bond.
