INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE FROM ALERT CAROLINA: Carrboro Police investigate assault on RR tracks

The Carrboro Police Department is seeking information about a reported assault that occurred on the railroad tracks that run behind Harris Teeter and Estes Park Apartments. The assault occurred sometime during the early morning hours of Thursday, April 11.

The suspect – described as a male, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build, race unknown – assaulted a woman (not a UNC student) who was walking alone.

This general area is frequented by many Carrboro residents, including UNC students. Police encourage people to avoid walking alone at night, be aware of your surroundings, inform others as to your plans and to call 911 for help, if needed.
