Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:
The University has issued an Emergency Warning and activated the sirens because of the report of an armed robbery occurring at around 12:40 a.m. this morning near Ehringhaus Residence Hall on the UNC Campus.
A male UNC student was approached by a black male, armed with a handgun, standing about 5’10” in height, around 20-25 years of age just outside of Ehringhaus Residence Hall and robbed. The victim reported that the suspect had a goatee and wore a ski mask covering part of his face. He wore a Dallas Cowboys jacket and sweat pants. He fled on foot from the site of the incident northbound in the direction of Ridge Road.

When the threat is over, the sirens will sound again with a different tone to announce along with the voice message: “All clear. Resume normal activities.”
Anyone with information which might aid in the investigation into this incident is encouraged to call 9-1-1 immediately.
