Alert Carolina Informational Message: UNC Police investigating gunshots fired on campus early morning Sunday, July 7

UNC STUDENTS, STAFF, AND FACULTY:

UNC Police is investigating a report of an incident that shots were fired on campus near Raleigh Street early morning Sunday, July 7. The victim reported that he left a Franklin Street establishment around 2:43 a.m. and turned onto Raleigh Street. The suspect, driving a dark-colored sedan, cut around the victim’s vehicle at Raleigh Street and East Cameron Avenue and struck the front corner of the vehicle. The suspect then fired 2-3 gunshots at the victim’s vehicle before driving off. There were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as a male with dreadlocks wearing a short-sleeve shirt. The vehicle is a four-door sedan, possibly blue or black.
